Coronavirus Is Impacting The Aviation Industry

Suddenly and without warning, the Coronavirus formally known as (COVID-19), quickly transmitted from where it began, spread throughout the world and has started changing our daily lives and the way we interact, work, do business and live.

Aviation is one of the most “global” industries that is connecting people, cultures, and businesses across continents. It is very well known to all that aviation provides the only rapid worldwide transportation network, which makes it essential for global business. It generates economic growth, creates jobs, and facilitates international trade and tourism.
As cities shut down and people engage in social distancing, our technology has become essential to connect with others at a time of isolation. However, while most airlines operations have been brought to a stop due to the closure of borders and some airports in most countries, many governments are still cooperating with national carriers to repatriate those who are stranded abroad, to allow essential travel to take place. With some flights still happening – although largely reduced – and some airports are still open, the health and safety of passengers and crew have never been more important.
In these challenging times, industry bodies like the International Air Transport Association (IATA), International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and more are working around the clock to support small and large aviation enterprises in their struggles.
The rapid spread of the Coronavirus is having a major impact on business aviation around the world, as many countries legislate procedures to reduce the risk of the virus spreading. The situation is fluid as additional nations are taking more steps daily.

Operators should be aware of all potential restrictions before any mission, particularly to Asia or if they have been in the Wuhan region recently or any other impacted country, as this could limit their options.

Ground handling is an integral part of airline operations. IATA strives to lead the industry towards improved safety and operational efficiency in ground handling by setting standards, initiating and encouraging the implementation of global solutions.
